The Desert Ridge Jaguars will head out to face off against the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Desert Ridge was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Apollo on Friday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Hawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the match before.

Halle Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Desert Ridge let Brooklyn Parks and Summer Mittendorf run wild. Parks got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI, while Mittendorf went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Mittendorf has posted since back in March. Daphne Torres was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Desert Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 15-5 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, West Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 19-12 to Tolleson.
Mariah Mendez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Zerianna Gomez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Desert Ridge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-11. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .399. However, it's not like West Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
