Basketball Game Preview: Lanett Panthers vs. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies

Having just played yesterday, the Lanett Panthers will jump right back in to play the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lanett is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Midfield just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to the Patriots 73-67. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Patriots are ranked 44th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Armani Langdon, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakerionna Heard, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 63-45 victory over the Blue Devils.

Hewitt-Trussville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Lanett, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
