Baseball Recap: Pershing County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Pershing County had lost nine games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-16 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Sierra Lutheran Falcons 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 22nd.

Pershing County's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trenton Rhodes, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

As for Sierra Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Sierra Lutheran's side, Shaun Castro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Matt Fahey was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Pershing County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sierra Lutheran: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
