Clinton is 0-6 against Jefferson since May of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Clinton was able to grind out a solid victory over East Troy, taking the game 7-3.
Andie Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keylee VanderPahl, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Ella Roehl was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Jefferson won against Fall Creek on Wednesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Eagles never let Turner get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Trojans since May 11, 2019.
Ashlyn Enke was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Enke was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jefferson let Hildie Dempsey and Bre Mengel run wild. Dempsey scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Mengel scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Jefferson has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.0 runs this season. As for Clinton, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Clinton couldn't quite get it done against Jefferson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
