Baseball Recap: Avalon Black Knights vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders
With a playoff game on the line, Avalon rose to the challenge on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders 8-6. The win was familiar territory for Avalon who now have six in a row.
Thomas Straniero was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ethan Stepanik, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Avalon has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Riverdale Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.
