Baseball Recap: Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Comes Up Short

Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 19. They lost 22-0 to the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. The Blue Jays were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Lynchburg-Clay, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 13 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Lynchburg-Clay's part, Cole Wells was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Josiah Burns was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington will challenge East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they will take on Williamsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
