Softball Recap: Apex Starts Season with Victory Against Union Pines

Apex had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Union Pines Vikings 9-8.

Apex let Addie Louder and Maggie Austin run wild. Louder went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Austin went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Austin a new career-high in hits (three). Lauren McMahon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apex will challenge South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union Pines, they will square off against Gray's Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
