Softball Recap: Three Straight Road Wins for Wickenburg

Wickenburg never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Glendale Prep Academy on Monday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Griffins. This was a revenge game for the Wranglers: when they faced off against the Griffins back in March, they had to take a 9-3 defeat.

Maleigh Colvin made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ariel Sprecher was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Melfi, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Wickenburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale Prep Academy only managed five hits.

Wickenburg pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glendale Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will face off against Mountainside at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wranglers are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they will take on Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
