Basketball Recap: Gretna Takes a Loss

Gretna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 77-61 fall against the Bennington Badgers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-48 back in December of 2024.

Gavin Olson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bennington, going 5 of 11 to rack up 20 points along with seven boards and six assists. That's the most points Olson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blaize Jung, who went 5 for 7 en route to 15 points.

Gretna's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Bennington, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gretna will square off against Pius X at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bennington, they will face off against Roncalli Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
