Clear Fork hasn't had much luck against Lexington recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Colts will take on the Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. Clear Fork is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Clear Fork is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Shelby 12-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Colts' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Katrina Rogers and Hailly Thrush did most of the damage at the plate: Rogers went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Thrush went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Thrush has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kylie Ludwig, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lexington posted their closest win since March 22nd on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ontario 2-1. The Minutemen haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Makaree Chapman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Clear Fork has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lexington, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clear Fork has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lexington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Clear Fork came up short against Lexington in their previous meeting on May 2nd, falling 6-2. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
