Baseball Game Preview: Ellet Orangemen vs. Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers

The Ellet Orangemen will take on the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ellet's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six matchups, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ellet came up short against Springfield on Friday, falling 8-1.

Ellet got a good showing from Luke Harris, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, Harris didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

At the plate, Ellet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keaton McKeel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cuyahoga Falls, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Rootstown 4-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Black Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Nick Purchase was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gino Capretta, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Cuyahoga Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cuyahoga Falls' victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Ellet, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
