Baseball Game Preview: Knappa Loggers vs. Gaston Greyhounds

For the second straight game, Knappa will face off against Gaston. The Loggers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Greyhounds at 3:00 p.m. Knappa has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Knappa came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 20-10 to Gaston.

For Gaston's part, Ayden Hansen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hansen was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Gaston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-14 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Brysen Riccardi was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wes Tavera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and one run.

Gaston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Knappa has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Gaston, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
