Softball Game Preview: Elkton Elks vs. Oakland Oakers

The Elkton Elks will challenge the Oakland Oakers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elkton is looking for their season's first win.

Elkton couldn't beat Lowell on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Elks lost 18-8 to the Devils.

Amelia Holloway made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Meah Saddler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Oakland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Myrtle Point on Monday. The Oakers were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bobcats. The Oakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 11 runs or more this season.

Teagan Fauver and Gwen Field did most of the damage at the plate: Fauver went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Field went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave Field a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsie Pfaff, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Oakland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Elkton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
