Football Recap: Basic Wins High-Profile Contest Against Legacy

On Thursday, Basic faced Legacy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Basic Wolves snuck past the Legacy Longhorns with a 25-21 victory. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered a 20-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Basic's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by MAKAYLA MOORE and AIVA LAVEA, who racked up all four sacks between them. Basic is 7-1 when LAVEA posts one or more sacks, but 6-9 otherwise.

Although Legacy took the loss, they still got scores from Fatima Carter, Larissa Lotta, and Leyla Castillo.

Basic's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Legacy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Basic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 41-20 victory against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon on the 7th. As for Legacy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-0 win against Canyon Springs on the 10th.
