Football Preview: West Branch Warriors vs. Curwensville Golden Tide
West Branch has been away from home for two games now, but on Friday they'll finally make their return. They will host the Curwensville Golden Tide at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully West Branch focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up five on Friday.
West Branch is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They had to suffer through a 49-16 loss at the hands of Juniata Valley.
West Branch's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kurtis Fetters, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, and Easton Emigh, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown. Emigh's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards.
Meanwhile, Curwensville scored first but ultimately less than Claysburg-Kimmel in their game on Friday. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.
Despite their loss, Curwensville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cael Butler, who picked up 171 receiving yards and three touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Dunn, who threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes.
West Branch's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Curwensville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for West Branch against Curwensville in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, as the team secured a 43-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Curwensville's Braden Holland, who picked up 62 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 106 yards on only 15 carries.
