Baseball Game Preview: Marion Harding Presidents vs. Ontario Warriors

Marion Harding is 0-7 against Ontario since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Presidents will head out to challenge the Warriors at 5:15 p.m. Ontario took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Marion Harding, who comes in off a win.

Marion Harding took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Mt. Gilead. The Presidents' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Hudson Esterline was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Landon Keller was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Rau Scott-Harbolt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Marion Harding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Gilead only posted a batting average of .227.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Ontario was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell 4-1 to Clyde. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ontario's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Marion Harding, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Marion Harding came up short against Ontario when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Presidents avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
