Softball Recap: Granville Central Panthers vs. South Granville Vikings

Granville Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 24-0 to the South Granville Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Granville Central of the 20-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on Monday.

Even though they lost, Granville Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 3.000. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Granville only posted an OBP of .839.

For South Granville's part, Chaleigh Currin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Currin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. Granville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for South Granville, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Granville Central will play host again on Tuesday to welcome Louisburg, where first pitch is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Louisburg has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.85 runs per game on average), something Granville Central will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Granville, they will be playing at home against J.F. Webb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
