Softball Game Preview: Center Hill Mustangs vs. Saltillo Tigers

Center Hill is 0-3 against Saltillo since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Center Hill Mustangs will welcome the Saltillo Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Center Hill has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Center Hill is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 12-0 to Lafayette.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Saltillo came out on top against Ripley by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Saltillo.

Meri Campbell Davis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Chloe Skelton and Avery Little did most of the damage at the plate: Skelton scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Little scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Little a new career-high in RBI (three).

Center Hill's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Saltillo, their win bumped their record up to 2-3-1.

Center Hill suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Saltillo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Center Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
