Baseball Recap: Oneida Comes Up Short

Oneida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the McCreary Central Raiders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 6-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Elijah Strunk made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Oneida is 3-1 when Strunk posts two or more runs, but 5-16 otherwise.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for McCreary Central, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-5.

While Oneida had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
