The Mid Valley Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Old Forge Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mid Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Mid Valley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Honesdale as they made off with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Cooper Lukasavage, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Honesdale off the board. Lukasavage has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brett Yanoski was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Cali, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Riverside hit Old Forge with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 12-2 to the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered against the Vikings since June 2, 2021.

Elio Castaldi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Mid Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Old Forge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Mid Valley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Old Forge by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
