Softball Game Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Piedmont Hills Pirates

Del Mar is 0-3 against Piedmont Hills since April of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Dons will venture away from home to face off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Del Mar has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Del Mar came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-2 to Prospect.

Niarah Aimonetti was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Piedmont Hills was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Live Oak by a score of 4-2. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Acorns recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Piedmont Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Piedmont Hills suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 17-6. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Del Mar might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Piedmont Hills in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
