Softball Recap: Superior's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Superior and Chippewa Falls pushed the score to 17-10 the last time they played Chippewa Falls, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 4-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on five straight.

Arianna Robillard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Melania Luostari was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

Superior pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chippewa Falls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Superior will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair will be back at it again later today.
