The Lisbon Greyhounds will take on the Sacopee Valley Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sacopee Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lisbon, who comes in off a win.
Lisbon was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Dirigo. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Greyhounds have posted since May 4, 2024.
Cody Osmond made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Osmond was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other pitching news, Jacob Fitzsimmons looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits.
Back at the plate, Keeghan Morrissette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Jacoby Tuplin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Sacopee Valley came up short against Gray-New Gloucester on Monday and fell 10-5. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sacopee Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Harvey, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Sacopee Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lisbon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lisbon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sacopee Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
