Softball Game Preview: Valle Catholic Warriors vs. Oran Eagles

The Valle Catholic Warriors will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Oran Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Valle Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Oran will be coming in after a defeat.

Valle Catholic came out on top against Grandview on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Payton Naeger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Naeger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adyson Rayoum, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaida Fallert, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Valle Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview only posted an OBP of .344.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Oran finally came back down to earth on Friday. They lost 16-1 to Twin Rivers. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Oran also got a good showing from Kierstyn Reynolds, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

Having lost for the first time this season, Oran fell to 4-1. As for Valle Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
