Basketball Recap: Hunter Goss Key Part of Team Effort in Flying Lions Win

Excelsior Classical Academy won the last time they faced Oxford Prep and things went their way on Friday too. The Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions came out on top against the Oxford Prep Griffins by a score of 73-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flying Lions.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Excelsior Classical Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Goss, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 17 boards. Goss has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hill, who to rack up 17 points and eight boards.

Excelsior Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Oxford Prep still got an impressive performance from Davis Faulkner, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Faulkner a new career-high in blocks (six). Jayce Elliott was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Excelsior Classical Academy now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Oxford Prep, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Excelsior Classical Academy has already played their next game, an 86-49 defeat against Voyager Academy on the 17th. Oxford Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
