Basketball Recap: Destiny Christian Takes a Loss

Destiny Christian suffered their biggest defeat since January 18, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 66-30 loss at the hands of the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Wildcats' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Sunrise Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marko Pavlovic, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and eight boards. Tomohito Kobari was another key player, going 5 for 6 to rack up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Destiny Christian's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-11. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Coming up, Destiny Christian will welcome Crooked Oak at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Wichita HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunrise Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
