The Sharpsville Blue Devils will challenge the Sharon Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sharpsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Sharpsville is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mercer just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Jared Bissell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Titus, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Sharon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Franklin on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Knights. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Coen Fertig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Derek Douglas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Santino Gavin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Sharon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sharpsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Sharpsville took their victory against Sharon in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
