Basketball Recap: Westside Piles Up the Points Against Emerald

A well-balanced attack led Westside over Emerald in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Westside Rams blew the Emerald Vikings out of the water with an 80-50 final score. With the Rams ahead 40-20 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Westside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonovan Webb, who posted ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kmajay Jenkins, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points.

Westside was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Emerald saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rykevius Logan had eight points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Logan. Another player making a difference was Zymere Goodman, who earned seven points.

Westside is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Emerald, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Westside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-42 defeat against Fountain Inn on the 31st. Emerald has also already played their next match, a 63-41 win against Southside on the 31st.
