Baseball Recap: Currituck County Comes Up Short

Pasquotank County hit Currituck County with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-6. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Currituck County got a big performance out of Mason Burch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Gavin Durrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Currituck County and nudges their season record down to 15-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Pasquotank County, they moved to 4-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Currituck County will take on Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 2.9, the Dukes 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pasquotank County will be paying especially close attention to Currituck County's game: after Currituck County faces off against Windsor, they'll take on Pasquotank County again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
