Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Saints vs. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

The St. Mary's Saints will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. St. Mary's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

St. Mary's took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They really took it to Broadneck for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-28 win. The contest marked the Saints' most dominant victory of the season so far.

St. Mary's relied on the efforts of Bailey Harris, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards, and Alexandra Vandiver, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least a third of St. Mary's points. Keely Orndorff was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Spalding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Zion Prep Academy Blue.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Archbishop Spalding, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

St. Mary's strolled past Archbishop Spalding in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 75-60. Will St. Mary's repeat their success, or does Archbishop Spalding have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
