Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Fairhope

Fairhope had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Daphne Trojans. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly three runs.

Blake Westry was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Lance Wade and Will Sparks did most of the damage at the plate: Wade scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Sparks scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sparks a new career-high in doubles (two). Miller Humphries was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Fairhope kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Fairhope pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Daphne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.

Fairhope will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
