Basketball Recap: Wardlaw Academy Comes Up Short

Wardlaw Academy was the 54-42 winner over Providence Athletic Club when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Wardlaw Academy Patriots took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Athletic Club Panthers on Monday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Providence Athletic Club's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Morgan Huckaby led the charge by going 8 of 10 en route to 16 points along with five assists and five boards. Those five assists gave Huckaby a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabel Catone, who posted 13 points along with eight steals and six boards.

Wardlaw Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Providence Athletic Club, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Wardlaw Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westminster Schools of Augusta at 2:00 p.m. on December 27th. Providence Athletic Club also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Wardlaw Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
