Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crystal City). Everything went their way against the Natalia Mustangs on Friday as Crystal City made off with a 16-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Javelinas considering their one-run performance the game before.

Christopher Mena made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, Alfredo Gallegos was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Mata, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Crystal City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natalia only posted a batting average of .176.

Crystal City's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Natalia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
