Volleyball Game Preview: Carmel Greyhounds vs. Roncalli Royals

Carmel hasn't had much luck against Roncalli recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 11:00 a.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carmel comes in on six and Roncalli on ten.

Carmel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Zionsville 3-0.

Jett Burke and Brice Hagaman were among the main playmakers for Carmel as the former had 16 digs and two assists and the latter had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hagaman has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Roncalli faced Jeffersonville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Royals put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 3-0 win.

Carmel better keep an eye on Noah Meyer. He was instrumental in Roncalli's win, getting 15 digs and two aces. Meyer has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times he's played.

Carmel's record is now 28-6. As for Roncalli, their record now sits at 31-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Carmel hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 5.8 blocks per game. It's a different story for Roncalli, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 blocks. Given Carmel's sizable advantage in that area, the Royals will need to find a way to close that gap.

Carmel suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Roncalli in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
