Softball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton suffered their closest loss since April 12, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spring Creek Spartans by a score of 5-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-2 loss on Saturday.

LaSade Conti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had over her last six matchups.

At the plate, Dayton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bradlie Stevens, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Dayton has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-3 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Spring Creek and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Coming up, Dayton will take on Chico at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Spring Creek, they will challenge Elko at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Elko's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Spring Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
