Recap: Luverne Tigers vs. Central Lions

Even though the Luverne Tigers have not done well against the Central Lions recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Luverne took down Central 70-51. For Luverne, this counts as revenge for the 76-44 defeat Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iyanis Wallace, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds. Wallace scored a full 39.2% of Central's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Lawrence, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

The win got Luverne back to even at 1-1. As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luverne will take on Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Calhoun focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Central, they will be playing at home against Holtville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Holtville is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
