Baseball Recap: Omaha Westside Takes a Loss

Omaha Westside extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They came up short against the Millard South Patriots, falling 17-4. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Omaha Westside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Burke Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double. Andrew Tagge was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

As for Millard South, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 17-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by ten runs or more this season.

On Millard South's side, Jackson Corey looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Corey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Perich, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Wick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Omaha Westside will take on Millard North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Millard South, they have already played their next game, a 16-5 win against Papillion-LaVista South on the 28th.
