Baseball Recap: St. Francis Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for St. Francis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Salinas Cowboys 3-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 1-0 victory back in April.

Nash Horton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Francis is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Horton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Horton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Fantl, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The win got St. Francis back to even at 12-12. As for Salinas, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

Coming up, St. Francis will head out to challenge Pacific Grove at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Salinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carmel at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Padres have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
