After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Milford, New Fairfield was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Stratford Red Devils 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Briana Puff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Puff was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lindsey Briggs, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Sophia Callahan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

New Fairfield's record now sits at 6-9. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, New Fairfield will venture away from home to challenge Brookfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stratford, they have already played their next match, a 16-2 loss against Immaculate on the 13th.
