Basketball Recap: HEARTS for Jesus Christ Drops Season-High Score on Lawrence Upper

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask HEARTS for Jesus Christ). They blew past the Lawrence Upper Lions 45-21 on Thursday. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carenna Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds. Lewis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Haven Anthony, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Lawrence Upper lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayla Ponyard, who posted eight points. That was a full 38.1% of Lawrence Upper's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

The victory (which was HEARTS for Jesus Christ's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.7 points per game. As for Lawrence Upper, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-29 win against Horizon Science Academy on the 31st. Lawrence Upper has also already played their next game (against Lake Ridge Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
