For the first time this season, Westview will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Peabody Golden Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
While Westview's win against University School of Jackson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Westview had just enough and edged out University School of Jackson 7-6 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
Westview let Lakyn Rogers and Mary (Maddie) Gray run wild. Rogers went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Gray went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That triple was Rogers' first of the season. Annelise Hayden was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Peabody not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd. They put the hurt on West Carroll with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Golden Tide haven't had any issues with the War Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Alexis Wilson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzie Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Peabody was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Carroll only posted a batting average of .000.
Westview's record now sits at 4-2. As for Peabody, their record is now 5-6.
Peabody's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Westview has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Peabody, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Westview's sizable advantage in that area, Peabody will need to find a way to close that gap.
Westview took their victory against Peabody in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westview since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
