Softball Game Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs vs. Strongsville Mustangs

The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs will face off against the Strongsville Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Olmsted Falls is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Steele on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost seven in a row.

Olmsted Falls saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ASHLEY SCOTT, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Strongsville came into Monday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over St. Joseph Academy on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addison Heidenhoffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Adriana Maenza and Emma Hartman did most of the damage at the plate: Maenza went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, while Hartman went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double was Hartman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emmalene Brian, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Olmsted Falls' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Strongsville, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Olmsted Falls has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Strongsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
