Softball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Comes Up Short

Thornton Fractional South extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Lemont Lemont HS. That's two games in a row now that the Red Wolves have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for Lemont, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

For Lemont's part, Natalie Pacyga was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jessica Pontrelli, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornton Fractional South will host Illinois Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.3 runs per game on average), something the Red Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lemont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shepard at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
