Baseball Recap: Falls Church Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Falls Church proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Hayfield Hawks 6-5. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 14-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Winston Stewart was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Stefin Schneider, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Falls Church's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Hayfield, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Coincidentally, Falls Church and Hayfield will both be playing Mount Vernon the next time they take the field. The Jaguars will head out to face the Majors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hawks will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
