Basketball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs

The Galena Grizzlies are taking a road trip to square off against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Galena is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Galena lost to Reed on the road by a 61-43 margin.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zakery Smrt, who posted six points and five boards. Matthew Ritenhouse was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Galena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to Douglas.

Defeat or not, Damonte Ranch got some senior leadership from Drew Dodson and Jeriah Macias. Dodson went 6 of 15 on his way to 27 points along with eight assists and three steals, while Macias went 7 of 10 on his way to 21 points. Dodson's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kin Vong, who had 11 points.

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Damonte Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Galena came up short against Damonte Ranch when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 67-56. Can Galena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
