Softball Recap: Mountain Home Takes a Loss

Mountain Home had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it six. They fell just short of Jerome by a score of 13-12. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Jerome this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 on Thursday.

Averie Pierson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Orie Rau was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Jerome, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

On Jerome's side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Helmer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Helmer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Allen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Home will take on Wood River at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jerome, they will face off against Filer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
