Centennial and Green Valley are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2021, but not for long. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Centennial has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Centennial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Pine View.
Centennial wouldn't go down easily and took Pine View into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Green Valley made easy work of Cheyenne on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Desert Shields recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-16.
Centennial better focus on containing Zayden Vicente and Jeremiah Nissley as the pair were huge in Green Valley's win. Vicente had ten digs and one assist, while Nissley had five digs and three aces. Nissley is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played.
Green Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.
Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season. As for Green Valley, their win bumped their record up to 16-18.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Centennial has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Green Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
