Baseball Game Preview: Perryville Pirates vs. Sikeston Bulldogs

The Perryville Pirates will head out to take on the Sikeston Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Perryville's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Sikeston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Perryville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Windsor by a score of 4-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

The result came thanks to Troy O'Keefe's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. Perryville is undefeated when O'Keefe allows two or fewer hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dalton Fritsche was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Waylon Huber, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Sikeston suffered their closest loss since April 8, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Marion by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Sikeston's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Perryville, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Perryville suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to Sikeston when the teams last played back in May of 2018. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
