Recap: Goldwater Bulldogs vs. Peoria Panthers
The Goldwater Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Peoria on the road and fell 76-48. Goldwater has struggled against Peoria recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Goldwater still got an impressive performance from Mateo Sullivan, who scored 13 points along with three blocks. Another player making a difference was Kyler Derryberry, who scored 13 points.
Desmone Brooks-conley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Peoria, scoring 23 points along with two steals. Brooks-conley continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Colenburg, who scored eight points along with eight assists and two steals.
Goldwater bumped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Peoria, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goldwater will square off against Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Estrella Foothills is ranked 263rd, while Goldwater is ranked 285th). As for Peoria, they will head out on the road to challenge Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Agua Fria focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday.
