Recap: Irrigon Knights vs. Riverside Pirates
The Irrigon Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. Their tough 49-27 loss to Riverside might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Irrigon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Riverside is ranked 27th).
Riverside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chloe Gomez, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Sanchez, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Irrigon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Riverside, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Irrigon and Trout Lake will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Riverside, they will head out on the road to face off against Heppner at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
